‘Diversity in Economics’, Financial Times, January 26th, 2024
Mario Rizzo (Letters, January 18th) laments a lack of diversity in macroeconomic thinking. Is he unaware of the work of Mariana Mazzucato, Kate Raworth, Stephanie Kelton and Claudia Sahm? They are among the rather small number of economists advancing fresh approaches in economics which focus on the real needs of real human beings rather than the unhelpful abstractions which have dominated economics for many decades. All of them, of course, are female, to respond to Soumaya Keynes’ article of January 12th.
